Therapy goals
When you engage in therapy, your therapist will assist you in developing goals. Some goals can be obvious like better managing your mood, coping with stress, or improving your relationships, while other goals may be less obvious and those that you didn't realize you could achieve in therapy. Goals like gaining confidence to apply for that dream job, learning new social skills, developing and strengthening areas in your life that move you toward wellness. Although your therapist can guide you through this process, your goals will be client-centered and based on your values and wishes.
What will my therapy journey look like?
The duration of therapy varies based on individual needs and goals. Some people may benefit from short-term therapy (a few weeks to months), while others may engage in long-term therapy (several months to years).
During your first session, you can expect:
Initial Assessment: The therapist will gather information about your history, current problems/ concerns and assist you in identifying goals.
Goal Setting: Collaboratively defining what you hope to achieve.
Therapeutic Approach: Explanation of the therapeutic process and techniques that will be used.
Confidentiality: Discussion of privacy and confidentiality policies.
